IZW October 12th Review on GFL.tv
“IZW Adrenaline” returned to GFL.tv with a blistering episode of top notch wrestling as the feuds and grudges between the IZW wrestlers continue to boil over and form a powder keg that will be ignited in a few short weeks at “Halloween Hangover” on November 2. If you missed the show live, no problem as “IZW Adrenaline” is now FREE on GFL.tv every Saturday night and can also be watched on GFL On Demand in the days and weeks following the event!
To open the show, “The Old School Sucka” Randy Price (@RandyPrice_OSS) made his return to the Impact Arena after suffering a terrible injury at the hands of “Bad” Brad Michaels (@OldSchool_Brad) several weeks ago where Price was pile-driven three times on a neck that has seen its fair share of debilitating injury over the past six months. Price gave a heartfelt speech and let the audience know that after six and a half years of dedicating everything he had to the professional wrestling business, Price had to hang up his boots per doctor’s orders. Price revealed that his prognosis was not good if he continued to wrestle. In fact, one more bump, one more drop on his head and Price would run the risk of being permanently paralyzed. Price was content in what he had accomplished in the squared circle and he seemed like he had come to terms with what his body could give him at this stage in his life. Like a real man, Price put the happiness of his wife and children first instead of his own ego and decided to step away from his one true calling in life and return to his family in one piece. As Price walked off into the sunset you couldn’t help but feel a part of IZW left with him.
In the opening match, The Bronze Bull (@BronzeBull_AN) took on “Larger Than Life” Jermaine Johnson (@JermaineAboutME) in an Over the Top Rope Challenge. After a quick scoop and toss over the top rope by Bull, which Johnson defended enough to land on the ring apron and then roll back into the ring, Bull responded with a clothesline that knocked Johnson in a 360 degree circle. Johnson rolled out of the ring to catch his breath and when he returned he was able to mount a minimal comeback with a few forearms but then missed with a splash in the corner and got caught up on the top rope where The Bronze Bull planted multiple kicks into Johnson’s midsection with the last one launching Johnson, gonads first, onto the top rope where he hung like a wounded animal. Moments later, Johnson rolled off the ropes and actually crushed The Bronze Bull with a dropkick to the jaw and a baseball slide kick to Bull who was already down on the mat. A snap mare, forearm to the kidney and boot to the face dropped Bull once again. Johnson whipped Bull into the ropes where Bull reversed the momentum by catching Johnson in a Boston Crab attempt before attempting to sling shot Johnson over the top rope. But once again, Johnson managed to grab a rope at the last second and slide back into the ring in another athletic move from the 2-time IZW Champion. Later, Johnson hit a missile drop kick from and attempted to hoist Bull over the top rope but was met with a spinebuster, a reverse atomic drop, a high knee and a discus punch by Bull that sent Johnson fizzling down to the mat. This prompted “Lights Out” Jordan Jacobs (@JacobsLightsOut), who was doing commentary in the broadcast booth, to come down to the ring and with the help of Johnson issue a two on one beating to Bull. “The Brass Bull” IZW Wrestler (@thegods_bs) who was also doing commentary on the match, rushed to the ring to assist The Bronze Bull and after a quick donnybrook, Bull and Starr where able to flip both Jacobs and Johnson over the top rope giving Bull the victory. Jacobs took a nasty spill as he fell head first outside of the ring, but somehow managed to shake the fall off and walk back to the dressing room.
IZW Champion, “The Natural Born Leader” Johnny Z (@NBL_JohnnyZ) gave the IZW World another verbal beat down as well as his challenger at “Halloween Hangover”, “Big Business” Damon Windsor (@DamonWindsor). Z made it clear he was looking forward to the Casket Match with Windsor and promised to make Windsor bow down to Z on November 2. Z even managed to goad Windsor into coming out to the ring right then and there. Just as Windsor was about ready to climb into the ring, “The Image of Fear” Kevin Morgan (@TheImageofFear) ambushed Winsor from behind. Windsor was dragged into the ring where Z destroyed him with knees to the head and a belt shot to the face that KO’d Windsor. Just as Z and Morgan looked to do even more damage, IZW Impact Division Champion Drake Gallows (@DrakeBmbulmer), with a steel chair in hand, hit the ring as Impact Elite scurried away before any further damage to Windsor could be done. Co-Commissioner “The Number 1” Shawn McHale booked a tag team match for the main event with Z and Morgan facing Windsor and Gallows as all four of these men still had a score to settle with one another.
In singles competition, Angel Camacho (@A_Camacho0986) took on Graham Bell (one half of the KC Wolves). Bell scored with leg kicks and punches to the stomach of Camacho and even two leg lariats before he hit the deck hard when Camacho stood his ground and Bell rammed into him at full speed. Camacho worked Bell over in the corner until he dropped Bell with a clothesline. Bell countered with a knee drop bulldog moments later. Bell continued his offense with palm strikes until he was launched in the air with an overhead belly to belly suplex by Camacho. Camacho hit a reverse splash in the corner followed by an enziguri kick that slumped Bell once again. Somehow, Bell found the will to continue and landed several more leg lariats to Camacho who was now feeling the effects of the draining match. Bell went for a moonsault but got hung up on the top rope and was given a top shoulder face buster by Camacho who picked up the victory in another show of power and agility that fans have come to expect from the rising star.
“The Captain of the Force” Double D (@IZWDoubleD) took on The Convict in a barnburner. D and Convict locked up with D unwilling to break the hold or be broken by the hold, even when Convict whirled D around the ring like a helicopter propeller. D was as tenacious as a pit bull and would not let go. Finally the two men broke the tie up at the same moment. D stayed out of the range of Convict as he connected with a leg kick, a jab, an overhand right, a knee to the face and an assortment of elbows to Convict’s skull. D was able to get The Convict to fall over the top rope two times in a row and put some doubt in Convict’s mind about doing it again if the two meet in the Monsters Bash at “Halloween Hangover”. But Convict quickly pushed D’s “Force” to the side as he clobbered D with forearms and a vice grip on D’s head that almost tore his scalp in half. D returned to form and even managed to drop kick The Convict out of the ring for the third time in the bout. When the action resumed, Double D went back to landing kicks from a safe distance including an enziguri kick until The Convict caught D in midair and tossed him into the ropes like a rag doll. Later, D recovered enough to hit his trademark knees in the corner and when Convict went to block the final knee and unload with a 15 to 20, D reversed the move and connected with a knee drop bulldog. D went for a high crossbody but was caught midair by The Convict and given the 15 to 20 that put D’s lights out for good.
“Lights Out” Jordan Jacobs took on the second member of the KC Wolves as he wrestled Luke Langley in a brilliant scientific match. After a quick tie up, Langley grabbed a go-behind until Jacobs grounded Langley with a drop toe hold into a side headlock. Langley reversed into a hammer lock as Jacobs needed a rope break to stop the hold. After another tie up, Jordan fought out of a Falcon Arrow attempt by Langley and hit a modified side suplex. Jacobs locked on a variation of a leg scissors neck crank as he put tremendous pressure on Langley’s neck and spine. Langley fought out of the move by stacking Jacobs on his shoulders and almost getting a three-count. Later, Jacobs and Langley traded chops in the center of the ring until Langley missed with an aerial move in the corner and Jacobs capitalized with a snap mare into a running knee to the face. Jacobs climbed to the top rope to go for a high risk move but was crotched leaving him vulnerable for a Falcon Arrow by Langley who picked up a huge win against the 2013 Impact Player of the Year.
In the main event, “Big Business” Damon Windsor and “The Urban Legend” Drake Gallows tussled with Impact Elite (IZW Champion “The Natural Born Leader” Johnny Z & “The Image of Fear” Kevin Morgan) in a tag team showdown. Gallows and Johnny Z locked up first with Z hitting a clothesline in the corner and choking Gallows with his boot. Morgan tagged in and proceeded to land right hands and head butts to a weakened Gallows. Morgan missed with a knee drop as Gallows tagged in Windsor who connected with his marque back elbows in the corner followed by a big boot that sent Morgan plummeting down to the canvas. Later, Morgan reversed the actions of Winsor with a clothesline in the corner then tagged in Z who jumped on Windsor’s prone neck which was resting on the second rope. The move could have easily broken Windsor’s neck or crushed his windpipe. Windsor, now sporting a bloody nose, was being strangled by Z who cranked away with a side choke until Windsor hit a sidewalk slam to break free. Morgan tagged back in to continue the punishment with a submission move that torqued away at Windsor’s lower back. Z went back to work with punches to the kidneys and knees to the face until he took his focus off of Windsor to jaw back and forth with Gallows. Windsor sent Z flying through the air with a back body drop but Windsor could not muster up enough strength to tag in Gallows. Morgan was back in and connected with measured punches until finding himself also sidewalk slammed by Windsor. Gallows tagged in and he and Morgan went back and forth trading punches in the ring until Gallows hit a drop kick in the corner and connected with a clothesline on Morgan and a drop kick on Z simultaneously while coming off the top rope! Gallows regrouped and hit Morgan with a moonsault from the top rope seconds later but also did damage to his own body as he landed awkwardly. Amid the carnage in the ring, Z jumped out of the ring and walked up the ramp as Gallows recovered enough to hit a double choke slam with Windsor’s help. Gallows made the pin and picked up the win. What was interesting was the fact that when Z left the ring, Morgan willingly told Z to stay there and sacrificed himself in what amounted to a two on one finisher from Gallows and Windsor. If Z has manipulated and brain washed every member of Impact Elite to basically step in front of a speeding bullet for him, there is very little anyone can do to rip the crown off the “Savior of Wrestling” either at “Halloween Hangover” or anywhere else.
