IZW Adrenaline February 8th Review
The February 8 episode of “IZW Adrenaline” on GFL.tv was the first episode after all the fallout from “Violent Valentine” and there was no time to spare as bruised egos and battered bodies were once again put on the line with championship gold at stake as The Journey to “Coronation” was in full swing.
The main players for the 10-man Impact Chamber became clearer as the show kicked off with some new additions to the “Coronation” main event in which the IZW Title will be on the line on March 15. In total, seven competitors are now officially scheduled for the bout: IZW Champion Johnny Z, Double D, Kevin Morgan, O’Malley, Striker, Copycat and Damon Windsor. That leaves three spots yet to be filled.
Impact Elite strolled to the ring and IZW Champion “The Natural Born Leader & Savior of Wrestling” Johnny Z (@NBL_JohnnyZ) verbally broke down a few fans in the audience before Madam Co-Commissioner Erica (@Lady_Of_Impact) added “The Old School Sucka” Randy Price (@RandyPrice_OSS) to the Impact Chamber match making him the eighth entrant. Price was instrumental in Z’s win over Michaels as he gave Michaels a piledriver then counted the pinfall for Z. Price entered the ring as IE left. Price then gave his reasoning for doing what he did. Price was hot at the fact that the IZW World had forgotten what Michaels did to Price last September. Price couldn’t get over the fact that Michaels had turned into a fan favorite after injuring Price a few short months ago with multiple pile drivers that put Price out indefinitely. In Price’s view, Michaels took the one thing ath Price loved which was competing in the ring. Price in turn took the thing Michaels most cared about, his shot at the IZW Title. Now Price gets the opportunity he feels he always deserved as he is entered in the Impact Chamber Match at “Coronation” where he will have the opportunity to win the most important belt not only in the company, but in the entire territory.
“Big Business” Damon Windsor (@DamonWindsor) and “The Resurrecter of Reality” Striker (@strikerokb) kicked off the in ring action of the night. Windsor had his way early with Striker and countered everything Striker tried, including a hip toss and shoulder block that knocked Striker out of the ring. Later, a low blow by Striker turned the tide in his favor but only for a moment as Windsor connected with a suplex and side slam. A few more cheap shots from the cagey veteran Striker including a scrape of the eyes countered Windsor’s wrestling. What Striker couldn’t make up for in grappling, he did with shortcuts and cheating. Striker connected with a DDT and then locked in a full nelson before Windsor paid back Striker for earlier in the night with a low blow of his own that turned the tide of the match. Windsor connected with a black hole slam followed by a choke slam that ended Striker’s night in devastating fashion.
Up next, former Impact Division Champion “Big, Bad & Sexy” Angel Camacho (A_Camacho0986) took on Soto Miyagi. Camacho had his way with Miyagi throughout most of the match as the size difference was too much for Miyagi to make a dent. Camacho suplexed Miyagi like it was nothing and tossed him around the ring like a rag doll. Miyagi did hit a tornado DDT midway through the match, offering up the first offense of the bout. A belly to belly suplex by Camacho flattened Miyagi after that. Then out of nowhere, Miyagi hit a modified frankensteiner that slammed Camacho’s head down to the mat and got the pinfall in an unpredictable ending to the match.
Up next, Queen’s Crown Champion Erica took on Miss Diss Lexia (@missdiss_lexia) in a return title bout from “Violent Valentine”. It was a quick match as MDL caught Erica with a backslide pin and got the victory and won the Crown back from Erica! After the match, IZW Tag Team Champions What Wrestling Should Be [“Larger Than Life” Jermaine Johnson (@JermaineAboutME) & “Lights Out” Jordan Jacobs (@JacobsLightsOut)] hit the ring to attack MDL only to be run off by Team Bull [The Bronze Bull (@BronzeBull_AN) & “The Brass Bull” IZW Wrestler (@thegods_bs)]. A 6-man tag team match was then made as Erica and WWSB took on MDL and Team Bull.
MDL hit Johnson with a hurricanrana to start the bout then tagged in Starr who unloaded with 10 punches in the corner before tagging in Bull who worked Johnson over some more before MDL tagged back in and connected with some hard punches on Johnson’s dome of her own. Johnson made a tag to Jacobs after hitting Starr with an atomic drop. Jacobs grounded Starr immediately and then hit a baseball slide in the corner as Starr hung upside down from the ropes. Impact Elite continued to keep a fresh wrestler on Starr and put a beating on him while keeping him away from his corner. Finally, Starr hit a DDT on Johnson but Jacobs was right there to attack Starr. Later, Jacobs missed a stomp from the top rope and Starr connected with a spear and was finally able to tag in The Bronze Bull who leveled Johnson with a bolo punch that spun Johnson around 360 degrees in the air. Bull added a back elbow to Johnson that nearly knocked him out of the ring and then when Jacobs joined the fray he took a shoulder block from Bull that did knock him clean out of the ring and could have just as easy come from a wrecking ball. Bull added a spinebuster and a Greetings From Mt. Olympus on Johnson then tagged in MDL. MDL finished Johnson off with a splash after being hoisted up high into the air by both Bulls and getting the 1-2-3. It was a wild match that culminated with an amazing comeback for MDL and Team Bull.
In other news, the first inductee into the 2014 Class of the Hall of Impact was announced and it is the one and only “Mr. Saturday Night” Michael Barry (@MSN_Barry). Barry is a 2-time IZW Champion as well as 2-time IZW Impact Division Champion and bolsters the stacked Hall with his induction that is set for “Coronation: A Decade of Impact” on March 15.
IZW Impact Division Champion “The Urban Legend” Drake Gallows (@DG_urbanlegend) squared off against Roberto Camacho next. Gallows and Camacho both tore into each other and went punch for punch as each man came to fight. Gallows connected with a baseball slide in the corner as his feet crushed Camacho’s face in. Camacho was not going to be deterred with that and battled back even hitting a body slam and German suplex moments later. Gallows responded with a neck breaker and swinging neck breaker in back to back moves as each man upped the anted. Gallows then connected with a flying clothesline off the top rope just as Angel Camacho’s music hit and he made his entrance onto the stage. Gallows wasn’t deterred, in fact he was motivated that much more, and hit a moonsault from the top rope and pinned Roberto in a back and forth hard-hitting match. Angel Camacho and Gallows have a date set on March 15 for “Coronation” when they will battle once again, one on one, for the IZW Impact Division Championship which is less than five weeks away.
In the main event, “The Captain of the Force” Double D (@IZWDoubleD) went toe to toe with “The Image of Fear” Kevin Morgan (@TheImageofFear). D threw everything but the kitchen sink at Morgan in the beginning and had close to a 100% connection ratio, but that quickly ended with a power slam by Morgan. Morgan added several head butts to D’s spine that paralyzed D momentarily before hoisting D up high in the sky and giving him a modified back breaker. D got his second wind and attacked Morgan where he was weakest, by taking out Morgan’s base, his tree trunk legs. D also added several knees into the equation as Morgan was on Easy Street made worse by an enziguri kick. Later, D crashed and burned as he went for a high crossbody as Morgan was able to catch D with a punch to the midsection. Morgan added a modified double hand choke slam to the mix. Morgan tried everything he could think of but could not get a three-count on Double D! Later, D looked to monkey flip Morgan in the corner, but transitioned to the top rope and caught Morgan flush with a high crossbody for the 1-2-3. Unfortunately for Double D, that wasn’t the end of his night. As D celebrated on the turnbuckle, Morgan regrouped and hit a Moment of Fear full force. Morgan continued to kick D on the ground as Johnny Z strolled to the ring. This prompted Windsor to come after Z, while Striker added more muscle to Morgan and Z’s side. Striker hit The Stroke on Windsor while Z connected with a Big Boot in the corner on Double D and followed up with one on Windsor too. Erica then came out to the stage and booked the main event for next week: Morgan and Z versus Windsor and D in a tag team match! Stay tuned for that bout which is sure to be a barnburner.
