Double D Defends the Impact Division Championship Against Michael Barry
This Saturday, Oct. 1st, Double D once again defends his Impact Division Championship, and this time it will be against the man he won it from, Impact, Inc’s “Mr. Saturday Night” Michael Barry. Double D defeated Michael Barry in a three way dance that also included “Mr. Money” Randy Price on July 23rd. Now, after taking part in Impact, Inc’s defeat of Team Johnny Z at the Danny Hodge Invitational, “Mr. Saturday Night has been granted his championship rematch. Who will walk away with the Impact Division Championship?
Both men have become largely significant members of the IZW roster over the years. The size difference between the two men is drastic. Double D comes in at 6’1, 190 lbs, while Michael Barry is 6’3, 275 lbs. Michael Barry finishes his opponents with devastating moves like the Saturday Night Special and the Rainmaker, while Double D employs the Defacer and the Top Rope Crossbody. This is Double D’s first reign as Impact Division Champion. He ended Barry’s first reign. However, “Mr. Saturday Night” is a former two-time IZW Heavyweight Champion with multiple defenses of that Championship. But recently at Redemption, Double D defeated current IZW Heavyweight Champion Jermaine Johnson for his Championship. The decision was then overturned by IZW Commissioner Jeff Wolfenbarger after interference by Johnny Z. While it was not official, many saw that match as Double D’s first taste of Heavyweight gold. Double D is also the 2010 IZW Superstar of the Year and Most Popular Superstar of the Year.
The accomplishments of these opponents are all impressive. Double D has already had an impressive reign as Impact Division Champion, having retained against superstars such as “The Awesome One” Kevin Morgan, Bad Brad Michaels, “The Vulture” Kenny Campbell, and even IZW Heavyweight Champion Jermaine Johnson. On the other hand, Michael Barry is no stranger to accolades as a member of Impact, Inc. Will his alliance with Impact, Inc. and their feelings toward Double D affect the outcome of the match? Or will Double D be able to continue to overcome the odds and retain? Be sure to witness what is sure to be an exciting Impact Division Championship match this Saturday at the Impact Arena.
